What I bring to my work as an editor is
• a sense of what’s possible,
• a sense of what’s needed,
• a groundedness (yeah, I’m Australian, so that helps … though is ‘groundedness’ a real word? really?),
• a sense of humour,
• a sense of what looks good and what looks appropriate, and
• a sense of style.
I am flexible, dedicated, hard-working and ultimately, if it’s not fun (or at least enjoyable) I won’t do it.
(If it’s not fun, then why do you do it?)
And I always bring that sense of fun and enjoyment to my work. Most people like working with me, and most writers agree their work is stronger for having worked on it together with me.
I have published hundreds and hundreds of writers across the English-speaking world, and many have returned for more … and sometimes much more!
